Wood Fired Vase No. 4

Wood Fired Vase No. 4

$95.00

Coil built vase and glazed naturally by fire and ash in the Anagama kiln. The red color is caused by iron minerals being drawn out of the clay during firing.

The interior is lined with shino glaze, making the vase able to hold water for freshly cut flowers.

After 144 continuous hour of firing, the kiln was shut down and sealed up to starve any oxygen out of the kiln. This process is called “reduction cooling” and leaves a more crystalized effect and muted earth tones in the glaze (see photos). This reduction cooling process happens only once a year at East Creek.

Approximate measurements: 5.5” tall x 8” long x 2” wide (at vase opening).

Please allow up to 12 days for processing and shipping.
